Ed Sheeran, født 1991, startede tidligt med musikken. Allerede som 4-årig sang han i det lokale kirkekor, og lærte også som barn at spille guitar. I highschool begyndte han at skrive tekster. I 2008 flyttede han til London for at få en karriere med sin musik, og i 2010 tog han springet til Los Angeles uden at have andre aftaler end en enkelt spilleaften på et mindre sted. Ed fik efterhånden flere aftaler og en aften så Jamie Foxx ham optræde. Fuld af begejstring tilbød Jamie, at Ed kunne låne hans studie. Som så mange andre udgav Ed Sheeran også sin musik på Youtube, og hans fanskare voksede stødt. Elton John var én af dem, og i 2013 optrådte de sammen til Grammy Awards. Ed Sheeran har været nomineret - og har vundet flere priser for sit arbejde. En aften festede Ed igennem med masser af champagne, og døddrukken (som han selv beskriver det) åbnede han sin mailboks og opdagede en forespørgsel på, om han ville skrive sangen til Hobitten - Dragen Smaugs ødemark. Heldigvis ventede Ed med at svare, til han var ædru, og i november 2014 var I see Fire en realitet.
